Open edition print of an illustration of the Royal Hotel, Footscray. Proudly designed and printed in Melbourne.
ABOUT:
The Royal Hotel is an example of streamlined Moderne architecture situated at the prominent Barkly Street triangle, on the corner of Droop Street, in the heart of Footscray. The two storey building was constructed circa 1872 and updated to its current style in 1940-41. Its main attribute is the bold rounded corner, with lettering set in Morris Fuller Benton’s 1927 art deco typeface Broadway, spelling the hotel’s name.
